Try Dives From Our Dive Boat

Think you might like to learn to dive but aren’t quite sure yet? A Try Dive is a safe, fun way to experience the underwater world and see whether scuba diving is something you’d love to pursue. You’ll get to feel what it’s like to breathe underwater, float weightlessly, and be surrounded by colourful marine life of every shape and size. Each Try Dive is designed to give you a unique first‑time experience and help you decide if you’d like to continue on to become a certified PADI diver.

What the day looks like

You’ll head out on our purpose‑built dive boat for a scenic trip through Mercury Bay. Depending on conditions, we’ll take you to one of our beautiful dive sites around the Mercury Islands or into the local Marine Reserve at Cathedral Cove. You’ll complete one dive to a maximum depth of 12 metres, with your instructor right beside you the entire time—literally holding your hand if you’d like.

Requirements

• Minimum age 12 years
• Able to speak and understand English fluently
• Able to swim 200 metres and feel confident in the sea

• Subject to availability

This experience is an introduction to scuba diving only and does not certify you to dive independently. If you choose to continue on to your PADI Open Water Diver course with Dive Zone Whitianga within three months, we’ll discount your course fee by $150.
